    Description

    We are offering a rare and seldom seen pair of Denver Terra Cotta bookends, each molded in the form of the Liberty Bell and glazed in a rick, dark curdled matte green accented with dark areas of shading.  An example is pictured on page 26, LR, of "Collector's Encyclopedia of Colorado Pottery", Carol & Jim Carlton, 1994, Collector Books.  Denver Terra Cotta was established in 1911 and was the only producer of terra cotta between Kansas City, Missouri and the Pacific Coast.  It was consolidated with the Northwestern Terra Cotta Company in 1924.  Few of the novelty items produced by Denver Terra Cotta surface - so this is a an opportunity to own a great example of their work in a beautiful glaze!  In good condition.  The fronts are are devoid of chipping, save for a tiny ding or two.  The backs have several chips of various sizes and each bottom has a fair sized surface chunk to back corner, all as shown.
